If you are like me, you haven’t been to Vegas since the pandemic began (I know, many of you are not like me, and have been. I’m jealous 😉 ).
In May, the Cosmopolitan launched a “memory game” promotion to keep Cosmo top of mind. Here were the prizes:
In May, they probably assumed we’d be back to normal much quicker, too.
I personally won 2,500 points, worth $25 in comps. I figured I’d use them “whenever.”
But what I didn’t notice, MilesTalk Facebook Group moderator Sarah did…. the points I won expire January 31, 2021. That’s in 2 days!
Before you think “Oh well, easy come and easy go!” that’s not the end of the story.
While it’s not widely talked about due to poor transfer rates, you can transfer points between Cosmopolitan’s Identity program and Marriott Bonvoy at the following rates:
Identity to | Marriott |
---|---|
25,000 | 20,000 |
10,000 | 8,000 |
2,500 | 2,000 |
500 | 400 |
Marriott to | Identity |
---|---|
250,000 | 100,000 |
125,000 | 50,000 |
25,000 | 10,000 |
5,000 | 2,000 |
Conversions must be made in 500-point increments. You may convert up to 100,000 points of either type over a 365-day period. The transfer can take up to 7 days.
All you have to do is login to your Identity account, hover over IDENTITY MEMBERSHIP and then Convert Identity to Marriott.
So the 2,500 Identity points I won convert to 2,000 Bonvoy points. You can see why normally I wouldn’t do this. It’s taking $25 worth of comps and exchanging for $12 worth of Marriott Bonvoy points.
But in this case, your points will be gone anyway, so take what you can get! Just take it by Sunday….
