American Airlines is upping their status match game for a limited time, offering not just the potential to match to a higher status than normal, but also an easier way to keep it through early 2027.
Let’s dig in:
For select AAdvantage tiers (Platinum and Platinum Pro) they will match one level higher than normal. Meaning that where Delta Gold would normally match to AA Platinum, for example, during this offer it will match to Platinum Pro.
There is also a kicker of Flagship Lounge one0time passes at the highest levels.
See all matching tiers below.
Next, instead of having a rolling 4 month qualification as they have been doing for a while now (needing to essentially prequalify four times!) you can simply hit a tier within four months (the length of the trial status) and earn that through March of 2027. Nice…
Loyalty Points are the easiest “qualifying point” (eg. Delta’s MQDs or United’s PQPs) of any of the US airlines to earn, by far, with opportunities all over the place. Spend on credit cards, AAdvantage eShopping, and their Simply Miles card-linked offer program (or, I guess, fly?).
Here’s the “How it Works” section of the AA webpage:
Enjoy the benefits of status with our award-winning loyalty program through the Instant Status Pass™ promotion.
- Enroll: Submit proof of your current status with a qualifying airline listed on the form. Once your email is verified and your submission is reviewed by our team, you’ll receive confirmation and details about your new AAdvantage® status via email. You can enjoy your complimentary status for four months, while earning Loyalty Points to keep it for longer.
- Earn: The more Loyalty Points you earn over four months, the higher your status can be.
- Enjoy: Reach one of the Loyalty Point goals and keep your status through March 31, 2027.
And here’s a link to the enrollment page.
