In May 2019, American Express acquired Resy – a restaurant reservations system originally built as the OpenTable killer.
They have done a number of promotions since then, but none like these elevated offers that surpass public and referral offers.
In this article
Amex Gold X Resy Welcome Bonus Offer
On the Amex Gold card, you’ll get the same 60,000 points for $4,000 in 6 months as the public Amex Gold offer, but they are throwing in 20% back as a statement credit on purchases made at restaurants worldwide for 12 months, up to $250 back.
Amex Platinum X Resy Welcome Bonus Offer
On the Amex Platinum card, once again, you’ll get the 75,000 points for $5,000 in spend within 6 months. But you’ll also get 20% back as a statement credit on purchases made at restaurants worldwide for 12 months, up to $300 back.
On top of that, you will get 10x points at U.S. Gas Stations and U.S. Supermarkets, on up to $15,000 in combined purchases, during your first 6 months.
Note that you don’t need to use Resy in any way to get the dining credits. I would also be careful about how fast I spent that $15k on the gas and supermarkets… it’s not like Amex hasn’t tempted us before with huge multipliers on groceries, only to take the points back for anything gift card related.
I have to say, if you are eligible for a new welcome bonus on either card, these offers sure are compelling!
For both offers, you’ll need to apply through Resy here.
