This transfer bonus is being offered on the Cathay Pacific side (rather than by any bank program), so you can transfer in from American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One or Citi ThankYou.
The biggest thing to know if that you must register first, or you won’t get the bonus miles.
The transfer bonus is tiered.
Earn 10% bonus miles when you transfer less than 20,000 points or 15% bonus miles when you convert 20,000-139,999 points from the mentioned partners.
Full terms are here. Importantly, the transfer bonus is not instant. “AML will credit the Bonus Miles earned under this Promotion Offer to Eligible Members’ Cathay membership accounts within 8 to 10 weeks after 31 January 2023.”
This makes it a lot less appealing since we never encourage speculative transfers (especially not for 10-15%!!) and it won’t decrease the number of points you need to transfer if you need to book.
However, if you were planning a transfer to Asia Miles anyway, then registering for this promotion will drop some extra miles in your account in a couple of months.
