Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan has devalued – overnight and with no notice – awards to Japan (and beyond) on JAL as follows:
Midwest/East Coast to/from Japan
Y: 35K to 45K
J: 60K to 80K
F: 70K to 100K
West Coast
No change to Y and J
F: 70K to 85K
Most of us assumed that once Alaska joined oneworld, some of the sweetest sweet-spots would vanish, but we also expected some notice before it happened (as that is what Alaska had promised).
Alaska currently has various award charts for various partners, but has long been poised to “align” charts, which is never good news.
