Bilt is changing quite a bit for 2027.

Bilt Cash Stops Expiring at Year End (!)

There’s going to be a lot of applause for this (with an inevitable chorus of “I wish I knew sooner!” but let’s let good news be good news…

Bilt Cash now expires at the end of the month, 12 months after you earn it. No more year-end expiration and no more rollover of just $100 into the next year. I know that frustrated a lot of people and Bilt did too, so this seems like a pretty solid fix to me. I don’t happen to be in the position of having so much excess Bilt Cash but I know many Bilt Palladium card users do.

As an example: $100 earned in February 2026 expires February 28, 2027.

“Flexible Bilt Cash Mode” Is Going Away

Right now, you have two options for earning Bilt Points when you pay your rent or mortgage via Bilt. Either way, you earn 2X points on everyday purchases (excluding rent and mortgage) on your Bilt Palladium card.

Option 1 is to earn points on rent and mortgage payments based on your monthly spending:

Spend at least 25% of your monthly rent on your card, earn 0.5X points per $1.
Spend at least 50% of your monthly rent on your card, earn 0.75X points per $1.
Spend at least 75% of your monthly rent on your card, earn 1X points per $1.
Spend at least 125% of your monthly rent on your card, earn 1.25X points per $1.

Option 2 is to earn Bilt Cash at a rate of 4% per $1 spent on everyday purchases (excluding rent or mortgage payments and other select excluded payment types) made with your Bilt credit card and then use your Bilt Cash to unlock the ability to earn 1 Bilt Point per dollar spent on your rent and mortgage payments made via Bilt.

If you choose this option, you will earn 4% Bilt Cash on your everyday purchases in addition to the 2X Bilt Points earned on spend.

What’s Changing?

On your card account anniversary, everyone moves to what I called Option 1 above – earning up to 1.25X points on rent or mortgage. Flexible Bilt Cash mode, the one that earns 4% back in Bilt Cash on everyday spend, is being retired.

If you have a Bilt card now or get one before January 15th, 2027, you can keep it.

You can opt out of the new benefits in your card settings before your anniversary date and you stay on Flexible Bilt Cash, along with any eligible annual credits.

But keep in mind: once you opt out you can’t switch between Flexible Bilt Cash and Housing-only mode anymore.

Your everyday points multipliers aren’t changing.

Card Upgrades

We all would like the ability to upgrade and downgrade between the 3 Bilt cards.

We are halfway there: Product upgrades are live in the Bilt app now. Check your card settings in the app to see if you’re eligible for a product upgrade. Of course, you’d forego the signup bonus for the new card.

Daily Rewards, Starting January 15

From January 15, 2027, this is how Bilt rewards you for paying rent or mortgage, whether you pay by bank account, debit card, or credit card.

Every on-time monthly housing payment earns a Daily Reward. So does one daily activity with a qualifying neighborhood partner: that means a meal, a class, or a ride.

Each Daily Reward reveals two rewards and you choose one to claim. Some are instant prizes, meaning Bilt Points or Bilt Cash. Others are collectibles that build toward a chance to win a grand prize, including:

  • $1,000,000 toward the purchase of a home
  • 10,000,000 Bilt Points
  • Free rent or mortgage for a year
  • Free Lyft rides for a year
  • Your dream getaway

A cool Million towards a house sounds nice to me!

In short, every on-time monthly housing payment and every applicable daily neighborhood visit gets you something: instant points, credits, or progress toward one of those grand prizes.

Bilt says it will release more prizes and the rules in the new year. Until those official rules are out, we don’t know all the details.

If you have a Bilt Card, your point earning on rent and mortgage doesn’t change. You keep earning Bilt Points on rent and mortgage the way you do today, and Daily Rewards are added on top.

Bilt Cash Toward Hotels, Twice a Year

Starting January 1, 2027, you can put Bilt Cash toward eligible Bilt Hotel bookings twice a year:

  • Up to $50 at Blue or Silver status
  • Up to $100 at Gold or Platinum status
  • Up to $200 for eligible Bilt Palladium Card holders

Palladium and Obsidian Credit Changes

Annual Bilt Cash credits now land on your card account anniversary instead of January 1.

  • Bilt Palladium Card: the $200 Bilt Cash credit and the $400 hotel credit become one $600 Bilt Cash credit a year. Use it on eligible hotel stays or on anything else Bilt Cash redeems for.
  • Bilt Obsidian Card: the $100 Bilt Travel hotel credit becomes $100 of Bilt Cash a year, same flexibility.

Both can still redeem Bilt Cash for Point Accelerator.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you continue on the legacy 4% Bilt Cash plan, you have to also continue with the $400/$100 hotel credits (2 night minimum). You will not get all Bilt Cash as above.

Status Perks in 2027

Gold and Platinum members will be able to redeem Bilt Points at checkout for Home Away from Home hotel bookings, including eligible luxury hotel benefits.

Elite members also get new rental car status matches:

  • Platinum: SIXT ONE Platinum and Hertz President’s Circle®
  • Gold and Silver: SIXT ONE Gold and Hertz Five Star®

My Take

I don’t see any downsides here. More perks for elite members like the two car rental statuses (you may or may not have these statuses elsewhere), the new giveaways, and the excellent change to Bilt Cash expiration.

I personally like the option to earn Bilt Cash by spend rather than the fixed option that it will move to for new cardholders, yet I get what they are saying which is that most people already use the tiered / newer way (up to 1.25X points earned on rent based on how much spend you put on your Bilt credit card that month) and few use the 4% Bilt Cash option. Changing to only using what most people use will prevent a lot of confusion. The best news is that those of that have and like it can keep it.

The full rundown on the cards and the program is in the complete guide to Bilt Rewards and the Bilt credit cards at Your Best Credit Cards.

Dave Grossman
I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! Several years ago, I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at the South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born. Since then, I've written my book, MilesTalk: Live Your Wildest Travel Dreams Using Miles and Points (2nd Edition) - (author profile), give seminars on miles and points all over the world, and occasionally write for publications such as Frommer's and Forbes Advisor.
