UPDATE: The MilesTalk group member that discovered the reappearance of this card has reported that it DOES report to personal credit (as it reported to his). Sorry all!
A bit of backstory….
In 2019, we rejoiced when Capital One made a change to the Spark Cash (the legacy product that earned 2% on everything with a $95 annual fee) such that the Spark Cash card would no longer report to personal credit bureaus.
In 2021, however, the Spark Cash card was discontinued. It was replaced by the Capital One Spark Cash Plus, differentiated as a charge product (pay in full monthly) with more spending power and a slightly higher $150 annual fee.
Also remaining was the Capital One Spark Cash Select, which earns 1.5% on everything with no annual fee. This card is still available for applications along with the Spark Cash Plus.
So what is this article all about?
Well, the other day in the MilesTalk Facebook group, I had an awkward back and forth with a group member that said they got the 2% Spark Cash with a $95 annual fee.
I had to ask him to post a link so I could see what he was talking about, sure it was one of the “available” cards – the Spark Cash Plus or the Spark Cash Select.
But it turned out to be the “back from the dead” 2% Spark Cash credit card! It’s got a $750 bonus after $7,500 in spend in the first 3 months and the $95 annual fee is waived the first year.
Here’s a link to the new (old) Capital One Spark Cash.
I reached out to Capital One to find out the deal with this relaunched card and – specifically – to confirm that it is a business credit card that does not report to personal credit bureaus.
My hunch is that it doesn’t – since for the 2 years this product was available from Oct 2019 until 2021, it didn’t. But I’d feel better if I knew.
I waited 4 days to post this in the hopes I would have confirmation (or not) from Capital One, but they have not been able to as of now and I didn’t want to wait any longer to alert you to this option (which I don’t even have an affiliate link for…). If they do provide confirmation one way or the other, I will update this article – else once our MilesTalk member gets their first statement and can confirm it’s not on their personal credit, that should be all the data point we need.
As noted above, we now (Nov 7th) have confirmation from a cardholder that it reports to personal credit.
I have updated both our articles accordingly – Which Capital One credit cards report to your personal credit profile? and Business Credit Cards That Don’t Report to Personal Credit Bureaus.
The oddest thing is that I could not find this card in a Google search. I tried my best but could only come up with Spark Cash Plus articles and my own article on when this card stopped reporting to personal credit in 2019.
My guess is that perhaps the Spark Cash Plus, with the higher annual fee, wasn’t getting as many takes as the legacy card and they decided to bring it back – but not with so much fanfare as to detract from the Spark Cash Plus. Of course, I could be way off. Either way, it’s a very interesting development.
If you want a Spark Cash (2% / $95 annual fee card), we do have the Spark Cash at Your Best Credit Cards which supports MilesTalk.

Curious if there’s any update on whether this hits personal CBs from any early applicants?
Literally got the group member update today and the news is that, sadly, it DOES report to personal.
Ha great timing on that comment. Huge bummer that it reports. No idea why anyone would get the Spark Cash 2% when the Venture comes with the same sign on incentive for much less spend. Either way, thanks for being on top of this!
Thank you for the DP on reporting to personal! I’ve been considering this card the last couple of weeks but shouldn’t be adding to my 5/24 right now. I was unfamiliar with the Spark cards and wondered why every article that popped up in Google search referenced only Plus and Select!
