Registration is now live for the October – December 2024 period for your Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cards.
This is for both the new(ish) Freedom Flex and the legacy Chase Freedom card.
As a refresher, the Freedom Flex and the legacy Chase Freedom card allow you to earn 5X Ultimate Rewards points on whatever the chosen categories are for that 3 month period. The limit is $1,500 in spend for the quarter per card, for a total of 7,500 Ultimate Rewards points on the spend.

Chase Freedom Family 4th Quarter (2024) 5X Bonus Categories
You can now register for the 2024 4th quarter bonus categories on your Chase Freedom or Freedom Flex. Both Freedom Flex (including converted Freedom Flex cards) and the original Freedom cards will have access to these bonus categories which are:
- McDonald’s
- PayPal®
- Pet Shops and Vet Services
- Select Charities
I suspect most will achieve most of their 5X on the PayPal category since you can use it for so many things like paying estimated taxes and checking out at a ton of stores which use it as a checkout option. I hope you aren’t maxing it out at McDonald’s which is, well, a surprising category to say the least.
If you use it at CVS (I know my CVS allows this in store), you would be able to earn the 3X at drugstores with a Freedom Flex plus the bonus 4X for a total of 7X bonus points but you must make sure your PayPal has your Freedom Flex selected in settings as the default payment method which is a confusing process to say the least.
You can also use it at Walmart.com which is great since that wouldn’t ordinarily be in a bonus category and American Express® Business Gold cardholders now have free Walmart+ (which I’ll be honest has shifted much of my Amazon spend to Walmart which often has cheaper prices).

You must activate by December 14, 2024.
