If you’ve had your Hyatt and American Airlines Advantage® accounts linked, you already know the deal with the reciprocal benefits.
But now American Airlines and Hyatt are ending their enhanced loyalty relationship. Both put out a statement, and both used the same phrasing: they “mutually decided” not to continue it. Neither said why.

American announced the enhanced version of this relationship in 2024. The idea was crossover. Link your accounts, and you could choose Hyatt perks inside American’s Loyalty Point Rewards, and American perks inside Hyatt’s Milestone Rewards. That crossover is the piece going away.
You still have time to get what’s left, though, and you can still even link your accounts and squeeze out a couple of months of benefits.

The Three Dates That Matter
- November 15, 2026 (11:59:59 p.m. CT): last chance to link your AAdvantage and World of Hyatt accounts
- December 31, 2026: last day World of Hyatt members can earn AAdvantage awards through Milestone Rewards
- February 28, 2027: last day AAdvantage members can earn World of Hyatt awards through Loyalty Point Rewards
What Won’t Go Away
One piece is not going away. AAdvantage members can still choose 500 AAdvantage miles instead of World of Hyatt points on eligible Hyatt stays. Hyatt’s release says that continues “even after the broader relationship concludes.”
But that was around before this and really, you should be collecting Hyatt points – not 500 AAdvantage miles! Please and pretty please.
What To Do Now
If your accounts are not linked, link them before November 15. It costs nothing, and it keeps both earning paths open through their respective end dates. If you are anywhere near a Loyalty Point Rewards milestone or a Hyatt Milestone Rewards threshold, watch those deadlines.

From Hyatt: Sign in to World of Hyatt and go to the American Airlines page under rewards.
