The Blue Business Plus Credit Card from American Express is a “staple” card for pretty much anyone that can qualify for a business credit card.
It’s a super simple card, earning 2X American Express Membership Rewards points on all spend, no bonus categories to
remember at all (making it great for any expense not in any other bonus category.
Amex Blue Business Plus 15,000 Point Welcome Bonus Offer
Historically the public welcome bonus on this card has ranged from no points at all to 10,000 points for $3,000 in spend, and historically by referral from another Amex cardmember you’ve been offered 10,000 points for $3,000 in spend. It may have offered a 20,000 point public offer when it first launched, but that was quite some time ago.
They’ve raised the referral offer now to 15,000 bonus Membership Rewards for $5,000 in spend, making it a great time to get this card if you’ve never had it before and can easily spend $5,000 in 3 months.
(Note: there was apparently a very targeted offer for 20,000 for $3,000 spend recently, so that is worth checking also. See this DoC post.)
Whatever you do, do not “self-refer” yourself to this card. Amex has been clawing back those bonuses and even banning people from being able to refer again in the future. Use the referral of someone you know or you can use mine.
Also remember that the referring cardmember will get a 1099 for the referral points, valued at a penny each. So you’d get a 1099 for $150 for each successful referral. A cardmember can earn up to 55,000 points for referring per year on this card. The person applying for a new card does NOT receive a 1099 for the bonus points.
