A few months ago, I wrote about a restaurant in Amsterdam offering private dining in greenhouse style glass pods – a way to keep restaurant dining alive during COVID.

New York is Winning the COVID-19 Battle – But Risks Remain
Though New York City has been doing better than just about anywhere in the United States recently with regards to COVID, it’s still far from eradicated and many are still not ready, myself included, to participate in a regular restaurant dining setup even if it’s outdoors.
The greenhouse setup provided by the new Ampia Restaurant & Rooftop could change my mind, though.
It’s run by husband and wife duo Michele and Anisa Iuliano, directly above their restaurant Gnoccheria Wall Street.
It’s located at Broad and Bridge Streets in Lower Manhattan (Financial District) and has 5 greenhouse pods available for private dining and is open from July 8th.
Ampia’s Cleaning Regimen
Ampia takes COVID-19 seriously, with an “an electrostatic sanitizing spray” used to cover the entire environment, with the enclosed tables 6 feet apart, menus on your mobile device via QR code, and other safety precautions.
Given how hard we have worked to stay safe and sanitize everything we come into contact with, we’ve been very hesitant about any dining, even outdoors – but this place would be first on my list.
Booking Ampia’s Greenhouse Pods
While you can book Ampia on OpenTable, you need to know that they also have regular tables on the roof. If you want a pod, which I’m sure is well booked up, call them directly at 212.422.4102.
If you eat here, please tell me all about it!
