The Waldorf Astoria New York is an icon of Manhattan real estate. Originally opened in 1931 and located between 49th St and 50th St on Park Ave, it was the world’s biggest hotel.
There is a secret subway stop underneath that connects to Grand Central that is known as Track 61 and has only ever been used for VVVIPs, except for one public event.
So yes, it’s special.
In 2025, it will reopen as part condo, part hotel and the rooms will be larger than your average NYC hotel room.
Hilton shared with me these Highlights of the transformed property:
- 375 luxurious rooms & suites, some of the largest in Manhattan
- World-class dining, including signature restaurant Lex Yard, led by acclaimed Chef Michael Anthony, and the return of Peacock Alley
- 43,000 square feet of reimagined event space including legendary spaces like the Grand Ballroom and Jade Room, restored to their original grandeur
- A 30,000 sq. ft. spa & fitness center with a serene outdoor terrace
Let’s take a look at some shots of the hotel followed by photos of the rooms:
I don’t yet have a photo of a standard room, but here’s a Junior Suite.
I personally think this is very exciting and could see doing an overnight “date night” with my wife here.
Reservations will be taken from December 10th and, like almost all Hilton hotels, you’ll be able to use those Free Night Reward certificates from your Hilton credit cards.
