Yes, four exclamation points! This is long overdue and very welcome news indeed.

Can you Book a Hotel in the Hamptons with Points?
If you were to search Google for “Can I book a hotel in the Hamptons using points?” you would find many posts telling you that no, sadly you cannot. They would advise you that you could pay using a booking portal (so a max value of 1.5 cents per point using Chase points if you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve or some other purchase eraser card. Some also point out that you can stay on points in Riverhead, Long Island – which is great if you want to be kind of sort of near the Hamptons and have to still drive as much as 2 hours to get to Montauk.
But today, buried in the news about the Hyatt category changes (you can see the Running With Miles post on that here) and additions to the Hyatt SLH portfolio is where we find this gem.
The luxurious Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton, NY, is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property and, as of today, is bookable using Hyatt points. As a Category 8 Hyatt property, it will set you back the maximum 40,000 points a night (or 45,000 with peak pricing once that change takes effect). And I know, that’s not *cheap*.
But have you ever tried to stay somewhere halfway decent in The Hamptons during peak summer? Seriously, if you haven’t go fire up your favorite hotel booking engine and see how expensive it is. It’s very common that a room somewhere even “nice” and not ultra luxurious would be $700++ (plus tax and maybe a resort fee!) and somewhere you would actually want to stay can be $1,000 a night ++.
For this reason, despite “wanting” to do a Hamptons weekend every year, we never do. It’s just too much for someplace so close to home – as nice as it is out there!
The Topping Rose House on a peak summer weekend for a King room will run you $1,695 a night.
But then you remember there’s tax! Two nights would run you $3,785.
Or, you can use 80,000 World of Hyatt points for the two nights, yielding 4.7 cents per point.
I personally think this is just as exciting as the Hyatt / SLH property up in Big Sur, California.
I’ve already booked a weekend for this summer. As expensive as this is, when you consider your options (or not going at all) this will be a treat.
As well, World of Hyatt Members should receive the following with each stay: Early check-in at 12:00 p.m., Late check-out at 2:00 p.m., complimentary continental breakfast for 2 each day, and one category room upgrade (all based upon availability at check-in except for breakfast – that is guaranteed ;-)).
Cancellation will need to be done 21 days in advance, so be aware of that.
Note that on peak summer weekends, since this article was originally published, the Topping Rose House now seems to require a 3 night stay.

Accumulating Hyatt Points
Obviously the World of Hyatt Credit Card would be a natural choice.
As well, all Credit Cards That Earn Chase Ultimate Rewards Points are a fantastic option, since you can earn up to 5X points per dollar and transfer 1:1 to Hyatt.
