Amazon says two new American Express Membership Rewards Pay With Points offers start October 1, ahead of Prime Big Deal Days on October 6 and 7.

Eligible Prime customers redeeming points for the first time can get 50% off up to $50.

Eligible active points users can get 15% off up to $15. Amazon lists both offers as running through December 31.

Check Your Amex Amazon Offer

See if you are targeted here. What appears for your account is what counts. You may see the 50% offer, the 15% offer, or nothing at all.

Is This a Pay One Point Offer?

Amazon’s announcement doesn’t say how many points these new offers require. Some recent Amex offers have required 714 or 1,429 Membership Rewards points, so read the terms on your account rather than assuming this one only takes a point.

The basic strategy hasn’t changed: use the minimum number of points the offer requires to unlock the discount. Redeeming points for Amazon merchandise without one of these promotions is generally a poor value.

My Amazon Pay With Points offers guide has the other issuer links and the checkout steps. Make sure any discount appears before you place your order.

Prime Big Deal Days Is October 6-7

Amazon says the event begins at 12:01 a.m. Pacific on October 6 and runs through October 7. I’ll update this page during the event with any offer changes and travel deals I can verify.

Dave Grossman
I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! Several years ago, I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at the South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born. Since then, I've written my book, MilesTalk: Live Your Wildest Travel Dreams Using Miles and Points (2nd Edition) - (author profile), give seminars on miles and points all over the world, and occasionally write for publications such as Frommer's and Forbes Advisor.
