amex American Express platinum card refresh mirror finish

I know, I know… the look of a card is just one small consideration for a credit card – especially with so many people using Apple Pay and other online payments these days. But I do still carry cards in my wallet and my favorite card remains the limited edition Delta Business SkyMiles Reserve card which is actually made out of metal from a retired airplane!

We all know that American Express is refreshing both The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express later this year.

But *seeing* the card, which seems to have a mirror finish on it, makes me pretty excited to get mine, assuming that current cardholders can order one – which typically we can.

Here’s the teaser from American Express on their official Instagram page. It gives no details on when the cards will refresh or on the refresh themselves (we all assume a higher annual fee in exchange for more benefits) but it does confirm this year.

If it were me (and I didn’t already have one), I’d be seriously considering this card now at the current annual fee! You’d lock in today’s fee for the first year and get the new benefits whenever they roll out the new products as well. The personal Platinum card even offers an “as high as” offer that goes as high as 175,000 bonus points (you need to let them do a soft pull to see your actual offer).

What do you think about this mirror finish look?
