In April, Citi announced some pretty big changes to the Citi Premier® Credit Card.

New Citi Premier Benefits
They updated the bonus categories, so that gas and groceries get 3X ThankYou points, while entertainment is no longer 2X and only air and hotel get the 3X travel bonus.
They also added a once-yearly benefit to receive $100 off a $500+ hotel stay to the Citi Premier. This wasn’t available online at launch, and so I hadn’t paid much mind to it. Still, I’d *hoped* that this might somehow wind up combinable with the 4th Night Free benefit on my Citi Prestige.
After all, you do get the benefits of various Citi credit cards in your pooled ThankYou account – meaning that, for instance, just having a Citi Rewards+ in your pooled account will trigger a 10% rebate on all redeemed points (from any card in the same ThankYou pool) up to 10,000 in rebated points per year.
$100 off $500 is Online But Doesn’t “Stack”
The ThankYou portal will now show you that you have the benefit available and let you use it online. But it will not let you stack it with the Citi Prestige 4th night free perk. It’s quite (and surprisingly) clear.
At checkout, you’ll need to select a radio button to use one benefit:
Hey, if you have to book $500 in hotels at a non-chain hotel (since like 4th Night Free, you’ll be treated like a leper with your elite status ignored by the hotel), you might as well take the $100. If nothing else, it’s a benefit you should be aware of.
Have you used the Citi Premier $100 off of $500 hotel benefit?
