Marriott Bonvoy and Uber have a partnership where you can link your accounts and earn Bonvoy points for qualifying Uber activities.

Through October 13th, this is how you earn:

uber Bonvoy

Starting October 14th, the rates change:

  • Earn 3 points per dollar on Premium Uber rides.
  • Earn 2 points per dollar on UberX Reserve Rides.
  • Earn 1 point per dollar when you place eligible food or grocery orders for delivery on Uber Eats.
  • Earn 2 points per dollar when you place an eligible food or grocery order for delivery on Uber Eats at Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, and Element Hotels.
  • Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite Status for Uber One annual plan subscribers.

Gone are the 6x earn rates for on-property Uber Eats / grocery orders; replaced with just 2X and only at 3 extended stay properties

Gone is the 2x per dollar on Uber Eats, slashed in half to just 1x.

Added is the 2 points per dollar on UberX Reserve rides (previously did not earn – as regular UberX rides don’t)

Added is Silver status for Uber One annual plan subscribers.

I can say that for me, this is not great news. I spend a TON on Uber Eats and therefore have been earning quite a bit of Bonvoy points that way. I’ll now earn half as much.

If you have zero Bonvoy status whatsoever, then bottom tier Silver status with a $99 annual cost Uber One annual subscription is… something? It’s the status you’d get for 10 nights stayed in a year. It does get you free (non-premium) wifi if you book direct and 10% more points, as well as access to the Ultimate Reservation Guarantee which guarantees you a cash payment and alternate accommodations if you are walked. It’s not much of a status, but it is something.
