alaska airlines elite status extension

Alaska Airlines announced today that they will be extending elite status for existing elite members through Dec 31, 2021.

This matches the extensions already announced by Delta Air Lines and United Airlines in the last few days.

Alaska Airlines Extends Elite Status Through 2021

If you are an existing elite member, you’ll see an automatic extension through December 31, 2021.  This is on par with what Delta and United have both done. American hasn’t yet made an announcement, though it’s hard to see them not matching very soon.

Also, any elite qualifying miles earned in 2020 will be rolled over into 2021. This wasn’t in the public news release, so thanks to MilesTalk Group moderator Sarah J. for sending over to me:

Were you on a Status Match Challenge?

Alaska has announced an extension here as well: Members who enrolled in a status match challenge between December 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020 will have their trial status extended through the end of 2021.

Other Extensions

As well, any companion certificates expiring in 2020 will be extended. Per Alaska: You’ll now have until December 31, 2020 to purchase new travel through November 26, 2021.
