25% Transfer Bonus to LifeMiles from Citi ThankYou and More

From June 03rd (12:00 AM GMT-6) to July 05th, 2019 (12:59 PM GMT-6, you can get a 25% bonus on Citi ThankYou points (earned with credit cards like the Citi Premier), as well as Hilton, IHG, and Marriott Bonvoy points, transferred to LifeMiles.

This promotion is different from what we are used to. In this case the bank (Citi) isn’t bonusing the points when you transfer them out. Instead LifeMiles is crediting them when they reach your LifeMiles account (or within 45 days).

To that end, two things to note:

  1. Only Citi is participating in this of the US banks. Capital One and American Express, both Avianca LifeMiles transfer partners, aren’t eligible.
  2. The fine print says you’ll get your points (regular + bonus) within 45 days. Now you’d think it will happen sooner, but we won’t know until we know what the timing is on this.

LifeMiles is known for abysmal IT and support agents, so we really can’t know until there are verified reports.

If it doesn’t go without saying, transferring from the hotel programs isn’t going to be your best use of those hotel points and I don;’t recommend that.

If you have ever missed a transfer bonus opportunity, you may be interested in subscribing to the Your Best Credit Cards newsletter, which goes out roughly every 2 weeks and includes not just new credit card bonus offers but also all current transfer bonus opportunities.

What are your thoughts? Will you transfer?

I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! A few years ago I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at the South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born.
