bilt hilton transfer partner

More is always better…. but….

From Bilt:

“Beginning May 8th, all Bilt Rewards members will be able to transfer Bilt Points to their Hilton Honors accounts at a 1:1 transfer ratio. Stay tuned for additional benefits and promotions between Hilton Honors and Bilt Rewards, as this week is just the start of our partnership.
  • Bilt Points must be transferred in 1,000 point increments. Bilt Rewards Blue members must transfer a minimum of 2,000 Bilt Points and Bilt Rewards Silver, Gold and Platinum members can transfer a minimum of 1,000 Bilt Points.
  • NEW – In a first for Bilt Rewards, all Bilt Members who transfer Bilt Points to Hilton Honors between May 8th and June 8th will receive 1,000 bonus Hilton Honors points on their first transfer. Bilt Members can link their Hilton Honors and Bilt accounts and transfer points on the ‘Travel’ tab in the Bilt Rewards app.”

It’s great to see Bilt expand their portfolio of transfer partners, however launching at a 1:1 ratio (probably because every transfer partner Bilt as is 1:1) is sub-optimal.

Most of you likely have some stash of American Express Membership Rewards points. And they are easier to earn than Bilt points by a wide margin due to welcome bonus offers.

Amex points transfer to Hilton at a rate of 1:2 (2 Hilton points for one Amex point). And I value Bilt points even higher than Amex points. And we have seen Hilton transfer bonuses of up to 50%, meaning that you could have transfered 100,000 Amex for 300,000 Hilton points.

Now, I could see Bilt having a Rent Day deal where you can get up to (if you are Platinum elite with Bilt) a 150% transfer bonus, but that would only equal the best historical Amex transfer bonus due to their starting point being double.

All in all, it’s a great new transfer partner and I just wrote yesterday about how the value of a Hilton Honors point may be growing for me as I type, but to me it’s a tough sell at 1:1.
