transfer bonus

Let’s start with the “meh” one first.

Chase Transfer Bonus to Marriott Bonvoy

From now until August 19, 2022, you’ll get 1,500 Marriott Bonvoy points for every 1,000 you transfer.

This is good IF you need to top off for an award that you know will provide excellent value for points.

This is not good “speculatively” as I value a Chase point at 1.75 cents and a Bonvoy point at 0.6 cents, meaning even with the bonus you are losing 0.85 cents in value.

But there are always exceptions and deals (and 5th night free on awards!) so do the math and you may find this makes sense for you. And it sure beats transferring 1:1!

Chase Transfer Bonus to British Airways

From now until July 31st, you’ll get 1,300 British Airways Avios for every 1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points you transfer.

British Airways Avios are traditionally best used on short haul flights on oneworld carriers like American, (because of high rates and surcharges on long haul premium cabin awards) – however, now that you can use these to book Qatar QSuites via linking your BA and Qatar accounts, you may well find this to be quite worth while if you locate QSuite availability on dates that work for you or know you can be flexible in the future.

New to all of this? My “introduction to miles and points” book, MilesTalk: Live Your Wildest Travel Dreams Using Miles and Points is available on Amazon and at major booksellers.

I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! A few years ago I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at the South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born.
