Chase Ultimate Rewards –> Virgin Atlantic with 30% Transfer Bonus

Amex also has frequently has transfer bonuses of 30% to Virgin Atlantic, which can make a good deal even better. Last month’s transfer bonus from Amex to Virgin just ended, but now you have a new opportunity using Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

The best use of Virgin Atlantic points is a Round trip to Japan on ANA in Business or First Class. Round trip in First is just 110,000 – 120,000 miles, which is absolutely fantastic for more than 24 hours in ANA First Class.

You can also fly to/from continental Europe (but not the UK) for just 50,000 miles each way in business class if Delta has Delta One partner award space.

Using partners KLM or Air France to Europe can still be a decent deal as well, for example New York to Amsterdam on KLM in Business Class for 48,500 Virgin points + $296 in tax. Or New York to Paris for 48,500 points + $315.

You can also mix awards on Virgin + Delta/KLM/Air France.

I also want to note that Virgin Red (part of Virgin Points) is set to expand redemption opportunities – including the famous Necker Island.

The bonus offer will last until Nov. 22, 2022.

Speculative Transfer?

As always, I caution against speculative transfers as programs devalue and award space fluctuates, however many do like this particular bonus opportunity for both the ANA and Delta opportunities. This is more of a “your call” than most (for which I almost always say “definitely don’t”).

Note that with Virgin joining Skyteam, there is some speculation (with nothing to back it up besides speculation), that the ANA award could go away at some point. We hope not.
