An hour ago, the Ebates rebate on Marriott bookings that was 12% on Monday and then 8% yesterday, has rebounded up to 10%. I’d checked earlier today and was offered only 1.5% (the standard rate) but if you missed out earlier in the week, 10% is the best it has been aside from the brief window at 12% on Monday.

If you don’t already have an Ebates account, you can use my referral link to sign up and you’ll get a bonus $10 after you spend $25 (and I get $25 as well).

If you are in a cash crunch, you should avoid travel rewards credit cards until you are caught up. Here are our favorite credit cards for Intro 0% APR offers and for balance transfer offers

As a reminder of the fine print:

Exclusions: Cash Back is available only on completed hotel stay. Cash Back is not available on airfare, car rentals, vacation packages, gift cards, rooms offered at specially negotiated rates, where the customer is required to be affiliated with or employed by a particular company or organization to receive the special rate (e.g., government rate or the Marriott employee rate) and rooms that are booked and paid for using Marriott Rewards Points. Cash Back is not available at the following brands: ExecuStay, Ritz Carlton, Edition, BVLGARI, Grand Residences; and at the following properties: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection, Riyadh Marriott, Saudi Arabia, Aspen Wye River Conference Center (Maryland), The Marriott Ranch Bed and Breakfast (Virginia), AC Hotel Lisboa, AC Hotel Carlton Madrid, AC Hotel Som, AC Hotel Nuevo Portil Golf.

The exclusions are not clear about former SPG brands. They *should* be included if not excluded as they are now simply a part of Marriott. But it’s a possible grey area.

If you have any cancelable bookings, book a second room using Ebates and then cancel the first one. Be sure to do in this order just in case your existing rate is no longer available or something else goes wrong before confirmation.

Let me know if you book this - on Twitter, or in the private MilesTalk Facebook group.

I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! A few years ago I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at this year's South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born.
