Reactivate Expired Cathay Pacific Miles (Pre-2020)

Prior to Jan 1, 2020, Cathay Pacific AsiaMiles “hard expired” meaning that you couldn’t extend them with activity.

Happily, starting January of 2020, all miles can be extended indefinitely with activity once every 18 months.

However, many lost expiring miles before the changeover as the change wasn’t retroactive.

Now, if you fall in to that category, you are in luck.

First, register on this page – scroll down to the register now button.

Then convert at least 30,000 American Express Membership Rewards or Citi ThankYou points to Cathay Pacific AsiaMiles before September 30th.

Per terms, the balance of miles earned before 1 January 2020 will be automatically renewed within 14 weeks after the promotion period.

10% – 15% Transfer Bonus

In addition, earn up to 15% bonus miles when you convert your credit card points to Asia Miles between September 13 and November 12, 2022.

Miles converted from our finance partners  Rewards
  Earn less than 30,000
  • 10% bonus miles
  Earn 30,000 or above
  • 15% bonus miles
  • free mileage renewal

The promotions overlap; just note from the table above that you will only get 10% bonus miles if you transfer under 30,000 points. At 30,000+ you get 15% plus the reactivated pre-2020 miles.

See all current transfer bonuses here.

New to all of this? My “introduction to miles and points” book, MilesTalk: Live Your Wildest Travel Dreams Using Miles and Points is available on Amazon and at major booksellers.

I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! A few years ago I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at the South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born.
