In October, we learned that Amex would be adding a $10 monthly Uber Eats credit to the American Express® Gold Card / Rose Gold Card (How to Apply). Terms apply.
Effective today, Amex Gold cardholders can now use $10 in Uber Cash per month in the Uber / Uber Eats apps. Just make sure that you have your Gold Card added as payment in your Uber apps.
Note that this is being rolled out such that you may not yet have the credits in your own account, but should soon. It’s automatic as long as you have your Amex Gold added to your account as a payment method.
You should see the Uber Cash automatically since the app will recognize your Amex Gold card. This works similarly to the Uber Cash feature offered on the American Express Platinum Card.
With a 60,000 point welcome bonus, 2020 is a great year to get this card if you don’t have it. Not only is the bonus worth close to $1,000, the $250 annual fee is actually more than offset by all of the credits, with an $80 first year profit.

As you can see, not even thinking about the bonus category earnings or the welcome bonus, you’ve recovered the whole annual fee minus $10.
The Gold Card’s Strong Bonus Categories
Don’t forget that the Gold Card is a tremendous earner as well, with these bonus categories:
- 4X Membership Rewards on Dining
- 4X Membership Rewards on US Grocery Stores (up to $25,000 / year; 1X thereafter)
- 3X on flights booked directly with the airline or via Amex Travel.
It’s one of the cards that I currently use the most, and this is a great year to get it.
