Lots of transfer bonuses today! Earlier I wrote about a Capital One transfer bonus to Avianca LifeMiles.
Now, Greg at Frequent Miler is has noticed a transfer bonus to Hawaiian Airlines from American Express Membership Rewards.
A few things to note:
- Hawaiian’s award chart isn’t super compelling in most cases, but you could conceivably snag an award from NY to Honolulu non stop for just 40,000 miles in First Class. That’s a great deal and even better for 32,000 Amex points!
- You could book intra-island for 7,500 Hawaiian miles which can include a stop (i.e. Kauai to Maui via HNL since there’s no non-stops). That’s 6,000 Amex points.
- As a domestic airline you DO have to pay the Membership Rewards excise fee offset surcharge. It’s going to set you back $0.60 per 1,000 miles transferred, capped at $99 per transaction.
- If you aren’t going to Hawaii and see a flight that works, I wouldn’t transfer “just in case” as they are of limited utility otherwise.
