Now, Avianca LifeMiles are great – and Avianca LifeMiles can be awful

They don’t pass on fuel surcharges, so they are particularly good on airlines that have major award surcharges.  But they are very hard to change or cancel awards. So read these two articles if you are uninitiated:

These sales are good for any Star Alliance partner with availability. That means you can fly United domestically (or internationally if there is saver award space!) and you can fly partners like LOT, Swiss, ANA, EVA Air, etc internationally.

How to Get Avianca LifeMiles

You can transfer to LifeMiles from Citi, Capital One, and Amex (and Citi has that 25% bonus on now).

You can also buy miles with a 145% bonus right now, though I really never like to see you buy miles when you can get them for free on cards.
