While it seems like Bilt 2.0 launched a while ago, given all the noise around the complicated nature of Bilt Cash and the like, it’s really only been a bit over 2 weeks! (I really can’t believe it’s only been that, to be honest…).

Many have wondered what the first Rent Day, Bilt’s ode to the day rent is due and which always features a bunch of goodies, would look like post-2.0 launch.

I’m excited to say that the first Rent Day does indeed include one of their coveted transfer bonuses with escalating rates for higher Bilt status, and it will be to JAL Mileage Bank.

JAL is a very worthwhile program, with its main drawback being that miles “hard expire” in 36 months, meaning that you can’t extend them, and that you cannot book an award until you have had your JAL Mileage Bank account open for 30 days (or just 7 when you link via Bilt or Capital One).

The program otherwise is incredibly generous and you’d do well to get an idea of what you want to book now (although you can’t hold anything – I just mean to get an idea) with the idea of transferring on Rent Day.

If you can find any JetBlue Mint flights, that would be one of the best possible use of the bonus – but the JAL / JetBlue partnership ends March 31st, 2026 so only transfer for this purpose if you find space that day.

Beyond that, we have an entire guide to JAL Mileage Bank here.

The transfer bonus for Rent Day (March 1, 2026 only!) is as follows:

  • Blue: 25% bonus
  • Silver: 50% bonus
  • Gold: 75% bonus
  • Platinum: 100% bonus

Bilt Cash Upgrade: Members can use Bilt Cash to temporarily upgrade their status for $135 and access a higher tier promotion. Platinum Members will have an upgrade offer of 125%. Note: Members can only access one tier up (i.e., Blue → Silver).

As mentioned, Members must transfer points to JAL Mileage Bank on March 1 to receive the benefit and, if your JAL Mileage Bank account is less than 60 days old, there will be up to a 7 day hold before you can use JAL Miles to book travel.

Overall, I think if you take a look at the guide I linked above, you will be pretty excited to see what you can get.

As a fun math exercise, I think that it’s kind of neat that if you have a Bilt Palladium Card, which can earn as high as 3.3X per dollar spend IF you also use Bilt to pay your rent or mortgage AND spend at least 75% of your monthly rent on non-rent expenses on your card AND have Bilt Platinum status (yes, that is a mouthful!) then you could be getting just about 7.5 JAL miles per dollar spent on your Bilt Palladium card when you ALSO redeem $135 for the boost to the 125% bonus tier. If you transferred 200,000 Bilt points, that would unlock an extra 50,000 JAL points – worth many multiples of the $135 and an amazing use of Bilt Cash.

I’m guessing few of you want such granular math on an outlier situation, but it was interesting to type 😉

Dave Grossman
I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! Several years ago, I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at the South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born. Since then, I've written my book, MilesTalk: Live Your Wildest Travel Dreams Using Miles and Points (2nd Edition) - (author profile), give seminars on miles and points all over the world, and occasionally write for publications such as Frommer's and Forbes Advisor.
