Hilton Partners with Explora Journeys

First up is Hilton with yesterday’s news that they will be making Explora Journeys from MSC an exclusive cruise partner.

They are calling AutoCamp and Explora Journeys “Hilton Honors Adventures.”

Hilton Honors members will soon be able to earn and redeem Points on luxury ocean journeys with Explora Journeys.

Until then, Hilton Honors members can take advantage of a limited-time preview offer that includes:

  • 100,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points per suite
  • Up to $/€400 Journey Experience Credits (JEC) on 16 curated itineraries
  • An exclusive in-suite welcome gift

I did ask Hilton what the redemption rates would look like but that is unfortunately not yet available. These cruises seem to start around $4,000 per person, so it’s hard to imagine how many Hilton Honors points these could be! $8,000 would be roughly 1.6 million points based on how we think about the value of a Hilton point today (around half a cent).

I also asked if there would be any benefits based on status with Hilton but, again, no information on that is available at this time.

Hyatt Adds Safari Hotel Bookings via Mr and Mrs Smith

You can now book luxury safaris across East Africa, including Kenya and Tanzania, with Asilia Africa on Hyatt’s booking channels through Mr & Mrs Smith.

Hyatt shares:

Asilia, meaning ‘authentic’ in Swahili, operates in some of the world’s most ecologically sensitive landscapes, and was the first African travel company to achieve B Corp certification, leading the way within the safari industry.

With 15 different luxury safari options, World of Hyatt members can find rewarding journeys at camps like:

  • Dunia Camp (Serengeti National Park, Tanzania) – The first safari camp in East Africa run entirely by women, located in the heart of the central Serengeti.
  • The Highlands (Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania) – Contemporary design on the slopes of Olmoti Volcano with crater-rim treks and sweeping views.
  • Ol Pejeta Bush Camp (Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Kenya) – Located along the Ewaso Ngiro River, where elephants are frequently seen from camp.

I do love having the option to book but not with points at these redemption values!

I pulled up just one example, Naboisho Camp – All-inclusive, for a random date and was offered a cash price of $3,880 or 355,750 points a night. At 1.1 cents per point, you should save your Hyatt points, which I have a floor redemption value of around 1.7 cents on, easily getting 2 cents per point in almost all circumstances.
