Emirates Raises Prices on One Way Business Class Awards – More to Come?

OMAAT reports on a devaluation he noticed today on Emirates awards. Whether you are flying to Europe on a 5th Freedom route to Milan (MXP) or Athens (ATH) or to / via Dubai (DXB), you’ll be paying more for a one way award.

Oddly, Round Trip pricing hasn’t (yet) changed and neither has First Class. But that may not be far behind.

Alaska MileagePlan to Offer Dynamic American Airlines Flight Awards

It’s unknown if this is something to panic about. Avianca Lifemiles has done this for quite some time – offering standard awards from standard award inventory as well as dynamically priced awards. While I don’t think the current plan is to get rid of standard “saver” awards, one does wonder about what happens if the take up on dynamic awards is enough to have them reconsider. MGM Rewards Launched Today

I previously wrote about all the changes as MGM transitioned from MLife to MGM Rewards. The new program is now live.

Check to see your status at MGM so you know if you need to “match back” from Hyatt Explorist+ to MGM Gold. I checked my account and I’m still Gold so no action required for now (for me).

New IHG Program Enhancements and Credit Cards

I haven’t followed IHG as closely as other programs because it’s flat out not that good. Miles to Memories says this is changing and also discusses new credit cards “on the way.”

New to all of this? My “introduction to miles and points” book, MilesTalk: Live Your Wildest Travel Dreams Using Miles and Points is available on Amazon and at major booksellers.

I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! A few years ago I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at the South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born.
