Folks – this is now DEAD. Excalibur caught up and now matches Caesars Diamond to MGM Pearl.

So we all know that the Caesars Diamond to MGM Gold match as part of the Status Match Merry Go Round™ is dead on a nationwide scale.

That was reported last month, with much sadness.

But some of you may recall that before the MGM nationwide match was even a thing starting in mid-2021, there were only two places that you could match – Borgata in Atlantic City and MGM Springfield in Massachusetts. They had their *own* match programs.

Well, an eagle eyed MilesTalk group member, Steve W. found that Excalibur in Las Vegas is still tier matching Caesars Diamond to MGM Gold.

I know, it sounds too good to be true. But not only did he get this picture, his wife did the match and indeed got MGM Gold.

Not only that, the card is showing an expiration of Jan 2024, not June 2023 like people were getting from the official nationwide MGM Tier Match.

So it COULD be that Excalibur is running it’s own promotion. Or they may just be set to catch up….

I cannot promise you this will last the week, but if you are in Vegas and have your Caesars Diamond card (but lack MGM Gold status) go give it a shot and report back!

Dave Grossman
I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! Several years ago, I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at the South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born. Since then, I've written my book, MilesTalk: Live Your Wildest Travel Dreams Using Miles and Points (2nd Edition) - (author profile), give seminars on miles and points all over the world, and occasionally write for publications such as Frommer's and Forbes Advisor.

  1. Argh. Just saw this article! Anyone else found out if it’s works for not???? I am dying to know before I made a trip out of this!

  2. As of today March 08, 2023 Excalibur is definitely NOT matching Caesars Diamond Status to MGM Gold, unfortunately it only matches to MGM Pearl. I went to Excalibur and 2 other MGM properties and was told the same thing.
