Le Grand Intercontinental Bordeaux

This offer, which has been live since May, is ending. If you are interested in this offer, you’ll want to apply by Weds Dec 1, 2021 at 5pm ET.

I’ve been saying that many travel credit cards would keep increasing their bonus offers as travel restarted, and here’s another example.

‘The IHG Premier Rewards Club credit card is offering it’s Best Ever elevated bonus offer for 150,000 bonus IHG points when you spend $3,000 within 3 months.

Note that the last offer was 125,000 points plus a certificate for one free night of up to 40,000 points – so that may or may not have been a better offer for you depending on how you redeem.

The annual fee of $89 is also waived the first year.

The IHG Premier Credit Card Comes With Some Great Benefits

This card comes with both an annual free night certificate and the ability to get the fourth night free (up to 40,000 points in value) on an award booking, so its $89 annual fee goes pretty far if you tend to stay at IHG properties (i.e. Intercontinental, Holiday Inn).

You also get IHG Platinum status which you can use to get on the Status Match Merry Go Round (whenever Wyndham brings status matches back).

The free 4th night is the actual 4th night meaning that you can get an even better deal if your 4th night is the most expensive night of your trip.

With the new dynamic pricing being rolled out by IHG, some people are getting some really good deals, although keep in mind that IHG keeps devaluing their points and even though they rolled back the most recent devaluation, you know it was a trial balloon that will land eventually.

Consider a scenario where you have 4 nights and the first 3 are 35,000 a night and the 4th is 50,000. IHG is deducting the actual 4th night, meaning you’d get 4 nights for 105,000 points, saving 50,000 points – for about a 33% points discount. If you have a lot of IHG points, this one benefit easily makes the card a winner – even if you don’t actually spend much on the card.

The earn rate on anything besides IHG spend isn’t very good, but the bonus offer and 4th night free on award stays make it a card to consider if you already have the more urgent Chase credit cards and available 5/24 slots.

The earn rate is 10X per dollar at IHG hotels, but just 2X points at gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants and 1 point/$1 on all other purchases.

The bonus is worth $600 based on my revised value of IHG points (0.4 cents each).

Card Eligibility Considerations

If you already have the old version of the IHG card, you can get this one too, but you won’t be approved if you are over 5/24.

Also: This product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of this credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of this credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months.
