While perhaps not something that is on the radar of many North American flyers, Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer frequent flyer program and Virgin Australia’s Velocity program have a partnership that is truly rare: The ability to not just book travel on the other airline, but to actually transfer miles.

Since the partnership’s inception, that ratio was 1.35 Velocity points = 1 KrisFlyer mile and 1.35 SQ miles could buy you 1 Velocity point. While not an amazing transfer ratio nor arbitrage opportunity, it certainly opens up options on both sides.

The ratio now has been reduced, requiring 1.55 points or miles on either side to get 1 point or mile in the other program. This will occur for 2019 so if this is a transfer that you have utilized, you may want to make some transfers before the end of this year.
