credit card news

Today was a heck of a busy day for bloggers trying to write about all the new bonus offers and card benefits thrown our way by Chase and Amex.

Since it was overwhelming for me, I figure it probably was for you too. Here’s a breakdown of what happened today.

Chase / United Credit Card Bonus Offers

The Chase United Business card stole the show today for best offer in my opinion, with up to 150,000 Bonus Miles on the table.

I wrote about all of the United signup bonuses here, but to summarize:

United Business Card

  • Up to 150,000 Miles! Earn 75,000 miles when you spend $5,000 in 3 months plus earn an additional 75,000 miles when you spend $20,000 total in your first 6 months. (Annual fee is no longer waived the first year),

I value this bonus at $1,800 which is quite amazing. You can absolutely grab a round trip in Business Class to Europe for this bonus which would be over $2,000 in value easy.

United Explorer Card

  • Up to 70,000 total bonus miles: Earn 60,000 miles when you spend $3,000 in 3 months plus an additional 10,000 miles when you spend $6,000 total in your first 6 months.

United Gateway

  • Up to 30,000 bonus miles: Earn 15,000 bonus miles after you spend $1,000 on purchases in your first 3 months plus an additional 15,000 miles when you spend $3,000 in your first 6 months.

Chase Freedom 5X on Groceries Bonus Offer

A close second for bonus offers are the new signup bonuses on both the Chase Freedom Flex and Chase Freedom Unlimited, offering 5X on groceries up to $12,000 in spend in your first year – a total possible 60,000 Ultimate Rewards on top of the 20,000 Ultimate Rewards you are already getting in your first three months for $500 in total purchases.

Massive New Signup Bonus for the Chase British Airways / Iberia Avios Credit Cards

I asked the MilesTalk Facebook group what they thought of this offer and, well, it’s a winner!

You can get this same offer on the British Airways Avios credit card and the Iberia Visa credit card. You could technically get both.

Get 100,000 bonus Avios after you spend $5,000 within the first 3 months.

I value these bonuses at $1,250 each.

Chase to Marriott Transfer Bonus

If you are a huge Marriott fan, this new 50% transfer bonus might be of interest, but I break it down here.

Major Amex Platinum Overhaul

Exciting to some and a big yawn to others, Amex added a slew of new statement credit offers to it’s flagship Platinum Card® from American Express.

The annual fee is now a sizable $695. The welcome bonus now goes as high as 125,000 points + 15x on dining and Shop Small for 6 months, but you’ll want to review the Amex Platinum changes article to make sure you choose the best offer for you.

Hint: the best offer is NOT the MilesTalk affiliate link so please don’t use it.

Amex Business Platinum adds a CLEAR Credit

Maybe only exciting for someone like me that already has the Business Platinum Card® from American Express and also has the Amex Green Card. Unless the Green Card is your daily earner for travel and dining (3X), there’s no reason to hang on to it now as the CLEAR credit was a big reason. Well, that and the welcome bonus 😉

Wells Fargo Launches “Active Cash” 2% Cash Back Card

If you are looking for a 2% cash back card with no annual fee, a 15 month 0% Intro APR / Balance Transfer offer, and a $200 signup bonus, take a look at the Wells Fargo Active Cash

Chase Sapphire PreferredChase Sapphire Preferred® Card Earn 60,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards points (worth up to $750 or more!) when you spend $4,000 in 3 months. How to apply for this offer.
