Chase Sapphire Banking Bonus

At the end of November, I wrote a blog post entitled 60,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points with Little Opportunity Cost.  The gist of it is that there is a bonus of 60,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards points going on at Chase banks for opening a new Chase Sapphire bank account and depositing $75,000 for 90 days.  I detailed, in that post, why if you have this level of cash in any cash equivalent, you can safely replicate that inside the Chase account using their free YouInvest program and an essentially risk-free Vanguard Money Market account.

I’m happy to say my points have arrived without any intervention on my side.  One thing to note is that you should expect a 1099 for the points, valuing them at a penny each.

If you’ve been on the fence about it, or just haven’t gotten around to this yet, I highly recommend you revisit my original post and decide from there.

  1. Great write up! I called chase to try to link my YouInvest account with the sapphire checking but they seemed unaware of what I was talking about, would you mind explaining how you did it

  2. You just open the YouInvest account inside your Chase account. It’s linked to your overall account. Maybe try another branch that may be more helpful? I’m not sue this specific promotion is still going on.
